The City of Carlsbad Community Development Department oversees five (5) City facilities/departments:
- The Lake Carlsbad Golf Course
- Cavern City Air Terminal
- Carlsbad Water Park
- Bob Forrest Youth Sports Complex,
- Facility Maintenance.
The department is also responsible for several other facilities, projects, and leased properties including:

- National Cave and Karst Institute
- Community Kitchen
- Literacy Building
- Old Reintegration Center
