As always, the Riverwalk Recreation Center did an outstanding job with its annual community Christmas party. We especially enjoyed having the opportunity to recognize some of the individuals who made it possible.
When you think about events around town, you can’t do so without thinking about Anthony Alanzo, also known as G Money. Anthony has dedicated himself to helping at numerous Riverwalk Recreation Center activities over the years. Not only does he perform at too many events to name here, he also donates his time and money to bring professional entertainers to Carlsbad, including dancers and wrestlers. Anthony has such an interesting life that, at one point, a video was even made about a day in his life. We appreciate everything Anthony does for the community.
There were toys everywhere at the Riverwalk Recreation Center last night, and much of that was possible thanks to the generosity of one local company, R360. R360 also donates a lot to kids in Loving and sponsors a major bike drive. This year, the company purchased hundreds of popcorn tins that were distributed through Jonah’s House and the United Way. The company has also always been a major sponsor of our Fourth of July celebration. We are so thankful for everything R360 does.
Finally, we can’t say enough about the hosts at the Riverwalk Recreation Center. This is a thriving location- one of the busiest in Carlsbad, thanks to the hard work of everyone there. The employees there also help with city activities all around town, such as our hall of fame inductions, the energy summit, the Fourth of July and our prayer breakfast. We always receive a lot of positive feedback about the quality of the decorations at our events, and that’s largely due to the great Riverwalk Recreation Center team.
On Wednesday, we had a chance to honor Elba Alanzo, Sarah Anaya, Tristain Methola and, of course, the outstanding director, Renee Madrid, for all of their hard work, and we also want to thank every single one of the Recreation Center employees. The executive administrative assistant out of the mayor’s office, Wanda Caddell Aguilar spent many doing a great job over at the Riverwalk Recreation Center, and she’s doing an even better job over here now at City Hall. The City of Carlsbad is very fortunate to have so many hard-working employees who always go above and beyond.
