Update 12-5-23

As we are wrapping up a few items from October’s energy summit, we wanted to take one more time to recognize the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors program. Ashley Bock is the head of the Ambassador Council, and every single member is deeply involved in this community.

Over the years, the Ambassadors have assisted us at the energy summit, at the annual prayer breakfast, and at other city events. They also assist with ribbon cuttings around Carlsbad and at numerous other events. Getting all of our visiting special guests seated at the summit and the summit dinner has always been a challenge, and the Ambassadors always managed to find a way. We can’t thank this group of individuals enough.

Carlsbad’s Chamber of Commerce is having a very busy season right now- between the new, expanded Christmas on the Pecos and the upcoming Winter Wine Festival. Next weekend, Dec. 15-16, there will be three hot air balloons and a series of remote-control mini balloons as part of the action. Don’t forget that train rides are available as well. The train route is along the west end of the Pecos River. Tickets may be purchased at the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Website: www.christmasonthepecos.com

There are a couple of local fundraisers going on this weekend, for those who need a break from Christmas shopping or from the winter wine festival.

The New Mexico Narcotics Officers Association is hosting the “Nothin’ But Dust” Sporting Clay Fundraiser on Dec. 9 at Creek Side Clays at 131 Fire House Road in Artesia. Registration is from 8-9 a.m. The purpose of this fundraiser is to support a local family and his wife with funds as they are battling cancer and having to travel back and forth to M.D. Anderson in Houston for cancer treatments. Participation includes 100 birds and lunch. Registration information is available on Facebook.

Additionally, the United Way of Eddy County is holding the “First American Bank’s Rocking’ Around the Christmas Tee” 2-man Alternate Virtual Golf Tournament on Dec. 9 at the Golf Society on 1609 W. Pierce. Openings are still available- please call (575) 361-5278 to register. Even if you don’t plan on playing, swing by the Golf Society to see this really neat Carlsbad business for the first time. There will be a full bar open, a silent auction, food trucks and cornhole. This is a fundraiser for the United Way.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
