2022 Energy Summit Slated for Oct. 20

“The Permian Basin: The Heart of Domestic Production” will be the theme for this year’s Carlsbad Mayor’s Energy Summit, set for 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Walter Gerrells Performing Arts Center in Carlsbad, N.M.

“Eddy and Lea County are national leaders when it comes to domestic drilling,” Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway said. “It is certainly vital that any discussion about the future of our domestic drilling go through busy southeast New Mexico.”

Robert G. Schwiers Jr., the Chief Economist for Chevron’s Strategy & Sustainability Department, will serve as one of the summit’s keynote speakers. Schwiers Jr. will deliver a presentation entitled “The Future of the Delaware Basin: an Overview.”

Other industry leaders in the Permian Basin will address the issue “The Permian as a Resource,” while Permian Basin area trade associations will provide their own perspective. The event will also include perspectives from area midstreams, as well a discussion on managing workforce shortages. Hanson Yates, the Managing Member and President of Santo Petroleum, will provide a brief history lesson on drilling in Southeast New Mexico.

Finally, popular weatherman Steve Stucker, known for his enthusiastic support for activities across New Mexico, will be a special guest at the event.

The Carlsbad Mayor’s Energy Summit is a free event, though registration through the summit’s web page is requested. Lunch will be served, and area nonprofits and businesses will have booths set up in the atrium. For more information, please visit https://carlsbadfoundation.org/summit/
