Update 6-6-23

CavernFest is one of the biggest events of the year, but it will be extra special for one Carlsbad family getting to watch their family member come back to play.  Robert Houston White will be playing bass with Carson Jeffrey on Saturday night. Robert is a 2010 graduate of Carlsbad High School who then went to Texas A&M University.

Singer-songwriter Carson Jeffrey describes himself as a full-time authentic to the core cowboy and part time musician. Last year, he released his third album, Fair Weather Cowboy. Despite being a part time musician, he played at more than 100 venues last year.

White and members of the Carson Jeffrey band will be performing at 7 p.m. Saturday night, right before the evening’s headliner- the Eli Young Band. Bri Bagwell will headline the entertainment on Friday night. Other musical acts scheduled for the weekend include Grace Tyler, Palmer Anthony, S.H.I.L.O., Last Child and Cody Zane Wells.

CavernFest will also include dozens of food and merchant vendors, a volleyball tournament, Let’s Have Foam, face painting, archery and many other fun activities. For more information, please visit the Cavernfest Facebook page or www.cavernfest.com. CavernFest runs June 9 and 10 in the downtown area. All concerts are free, thanks to a group of very generous sponsors.

Trevor Rogers update: The Miami Marlins star struck out seven and allowed one hit and one walk over four scoreless innings in his first rehab start on May 30 in Single A baseball. Rogers threw five shutout innings over this past weekend for AAA Jacksonville. He’s expected to return to the Majors soon after being injured earlier this year.

Trevor injured his left forearm in the fourth inning of a game on April 19 against the Giants. We look forward to his return, but we’re very glad to see him having so much success in rehab.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
