The Cottonwood Day Use Area is one of Eddy County’s unsung gems. Located near Rattlesnake Springs, the area was all but destroyed by a fire a few years ago. Tracey Hughes and the Bureau of Land Management have led efforts to restore the area. Most recently, the Carlsbad Community Foundation’s Benjamin P. Duke fund provided funds to put up educational signs in the area. This is another exciting development for this beautiful part of our county.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
