Update 2-1-23

Almost everything is coming together for the arrival of Carlsbad Miniature Golf, which will be located at the Lake Carlsbad Golf Course, 901 Muscatel. The weather has been a little uncooperative, which has slowed progress just a little bit, as setting the greens requires a certain temperature.

We’re now planning our grand opening for 2 p.m. Feb. 11. We hope you’ll come join us. We’ve invited the Mayor’s Student Advisory Committee and the Torch Club at the Boys and Girls Club to be the first people to play, after our ribbon cutting. This course will be for everyone, but we know it will be very enjoyed by our kids.

Murrill Electric/Pecos Valley Construction is our lead contractor on this project. Valerie and Bill Murrill have done an outstanding job. Please go check out the beautiful layout, if you haven’t already.  Harris Mini Golf designed the course and is handling the mini golf portion (so the little details that make it a course). Constructors Inc. has also played a very important role. We also appreciate the City of Carlsbad’s public works department and our golf course employees, who have worked hard on this project. Finally, thank you to Carlsbad City Council for strongly supporting this project.

Carlsbad Miniature Golf will be owned and operated by the City of Carlsbad. Admission will be $5. You don’t have to make a reservation to play – it will be first come, first served.

The course’s hours will be the same as the hours at the rest of the golf course, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during winter hours, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. during summer hours. The exception will be on Tuesday, when the course will open at noon. You pay admission inside of the pro shop, and balls and clubs will be made available.

The course has 18 holes. The first nine are all wheelchair accessible, and participants who wish to do so can instead complete the first 9 holes twice. Food and drink will be available at the nearby Pro Shop. Outside food and drink will not be not allowed, except for water. Our plan is to allow groups of five.

At this time, we’re not going to be allowing exclusive party reservations, as we want the course to be available for everyone. Ultimately, we plan on adding some more features to the course, such as a Caverns or a Flume, to give it more of a “Carlsbad” feel.

With the Carlsbad Water Park planning its opening on Memorial Day Weekend, we’re excited about all of the great activities being set up in Carlsbad.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
