Update 12-18-22

Cheyenne Methola, who is the executive assistant for the Mayor’s Office at city hall, will be retiring at the end of this month. We just want to thank Cheyenne for all of her hard work and dedication for the City of Carlsbad and the entire community.

Cheyenne was originally hired with the City as a part time transit driver in 1996. Eventually, she became a full time employee and moved from the Planning and Permitting Department to serve as Executive Secretary with Community Development. She then became Executive Assistant within the Mayor’s Office. She worked with Mayor Bob Forrest during the end of his term as mayor and with me during my entire term up to this point.

Cheyenne’s position was an extremely busy one, as many people have many different reasons to contact the Mayor’s Office on a daily basis. She keeps track of boards, works with City Council and is often the primary point of contact when anyone, a Carlsbad resident or elected official from elsewhere, communicates with us. For example, Cheyenne developed a very close friendship with former Governor Susana Martinez over the years.

In addition to her daily duties, Cheyenne is also one of the primary coordinator for our special events every year, including the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast and the Energy Summit.

As a worker, Cheyenne was a very hard worker and could always be relied on. She was also very personally dedicated to everyone around her and looked out for everyone. Cheyenne takes her family seriously, and that always included her adopted family at the office.

She capably took care of a thousand details every single day. She also took her responsibilities of listening to members of the public very seriously and passing their concerns on to make sure they were addressed. We especially appreciate the role she played as mentor to our interns at City Hall.

Cheyenne is going to be very busy with her church and her family, but she’s also promised us that she’ll continue to assist from time to time, especially with the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast.  We wish her the very best in her retirement, and we thank her again for her many years of dedicated service to the community.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
