Update 12-15-22

Last week, Crestwood Midstream, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, and the Faith, Hope and Love Foundation teamed up to make Christmas extra special. The group developed what they called Christmas Blessings, which took place at the Pecos River Village. Families who normally aren’t able to take a Christmas on the Pecos tour not only had the chance to do so, they also got to meet Santa and they were treated to a very special Christmas meal. Crestwood staff also unloaded gifts for the kids attending the event. Every year, the Chamber provides several special Christmas boat rides to local youth groups.

Thank you to Alana Gregory-Carreon, Executive Director of Faith, Hope & Love, and everyone with this incredible organization who organized this Christmas Blessing event. In addition, thanks to Clint Cone, who always steps up to help whenever he can. This was really a team effort, however, and companies who helped with the Christmas Blessings program were: Jaime’s Welding, T&D Lube Doctors, Bud Board Smoke Shop, Bud Board Dispensary, AKM Measurement Services, Hampel Oil, A2Z Services, Albertsons, PB&J Rio Café, Creed Inc., and R360.

Don’t forget that there will be a special performance at Carlsbad’s Pecos River Village this week by Country Music star Jay Allen. The free concert will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 at the former bumper car pavilion. Jay Allen appeared on Season 22 of “The Voice” and was one of the finalists.

Additionally, the Faith, Hope and Love Foundation held its annual Christmas Shoppe Ministry, in which hundreds of families received gifts.  This charitable effort serves about 400 individuals every year. A huge group of local organizations help every year, including:

First United Methodist, Cone Jewelers, Carlsbad Floral, Agave Threads, Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Kodiak Trucking Co., Cristal’s Beauty Salon, Attitudes Salon, Eddy County Beauty College, Platinum Salon, KB Services, Cain Electric, Word of Life, San Jose Catholic Church, Cheer and Tumble, Abercrombie Chiropractic, Simmons Dentistry, Academy Mortgage, Dunagan Associates/Century 21, Associated Pros, Board of Realtors, Horizon Pest Control, FedEx, B&R Trucking, Trones Bible Study, Crestwood Midstream Partners, R360, Ocotillo Elementary, First Assembly of God, Carlsbad Bible Church, CCM Preschool, Carol Worley/Backpacks for Hunger, Mattney Estrada, and R12 Bible Study.

Children receive gifts from their wish list and then get to shop for additional gifts for each child. They are also provided with clothing and hygiene items.

Thanks again to the many, many local individuals, organizations and companies who participate in this and other wonderful holiday events.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
