Update 10-30-22

Carlsbad is just a few days away from having a Wingstop. The restaurant will be located at 3113 National Parks Highway, near the Tractor Supply Store. The planned opening is, based on information we have, is Nov. 8. Please keep in mind that businesses often make last minute adjustments to their schedule.

Wingstop was founded in 1994 in Garland, Texas. The first franchise opened in 1997. By 2002, the brand claimed to have served two million wings. The specialty is chicken wings, and the chain uses aviation themes in its decoration. Listed hours are 11 a.m. to midnight, and the store’s listed number is (575) 237-9464. New hires are currently in the process of training. We’ve heard great things about Wingstop, and we look forward to trying it out here soon.

HTeaO Carlsbad is also getting settled in at its location at 1103 S. Canal Street. The storefront looks great. Construction has been moving forward very aggressively lately, and sewer lines were installed last week. The focus of HTeaO is, of course, on tea. We don’t have an opening date yet that we’re aware of, but the store’s management team has been spotted all around Carlsbad, bringing mini gallons of tea to first responders and local businesses. What a great way to promote a new business.

Also along the same stretch, you can’t help but notice a lot of work being done at Carlsbad’s new U-Haul. Construction is underway- you can see it stretching behind the IHOP- and the first floor frame is close to finish. Pouring of the second floor is set to begin in early December.

As discussed in the past, Pegasus Development is planning a major shopping center at the corner of National Parks Highway and Chapman Road. There are many exciting plans for this development, but we know McDonalds and Panda Express are both very interested in being located in this shopping center.

Another construction project you’ll see at the south end of town is work on the Hyatt House Convention Center. Carlsbad absolutely needs additional convention space. This is located at 4017 National Parks Highway, right behind the Hyatt House. A completion date is anticipated in February.

One of Carlsbad’s most important construction projects is located at the northern end of town. The Advanced Heart & Vascular ASC will be located within the new Skyline Subdivision at 1901 Skyline Road. This state of the art cardiovascular office and outpatient clinic will be a great development for Carlsbad. Work is underway, but there have been construction delays due to industry-wide supply chain issues. We’re looking forward to seeing more development with this very important clinic.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
