There’s so much development coming into Carlsbad right now. This is the first of four parts of our Development Report, which is put together with information from our Planning and Regulation Department. This portion covers commercial developments.

COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENTS

Advanced Heart & Vascular ASC: located within the Skyline Subdivision at 1901 Skyline Rd. This facility will be a new cardiovascular office and outpatient clinic. The owner is Clay Wilson. The architect is GUIDE Architecture, LLC. The contractor is R12 Construction. Valuation is $8,000,000. Work is underway. All of the plumbing is roughed in and the contractor is preparing to tie into city utilities. They plan to start concrete next week.

 

Shopping Center: located along National Parks Hwy. north of Chapman Rd. The plan is to locate up to 12 retail businesses within the shopping center, including a Marshall’s and a Hobby Lobby, and locate up to 8 restaurants along National Parks Hwy. The developers are Pegasus out of Albuquerque. The architect is Scharles Wilder.

 

U-Haul: located south of the Financial Security Credit Union at the South Y, between Financial Security Credit Union and Pizza Inn. The permit for construction has been issued. Greer Construction is the contractor. The valuation for the project is $5,000,000. Work is underway with site prep and grading near completion, and underground plumbing has commenced. Project is 10% complete.

 

HTeaO: located at 1103 S. Canal St. This will be a tea based drink business. The owners based in Texas. The architect is Matkin Hoover out or Boerne, TX. Allstate Mechanical is the contractor for this job. Work is underway and they are currently at frame stage with the concrete foundation wit framework commencing. The project is at 40% completion. Valuation is $600,000.

 

Big Lots: located at 2302 W. Pierce, Suite A, in the Carlsbad Mall within the old Bealls building unit. The plans for the renovation and installation of this new store have been submitted, permits have been issued. The general contractor is Mooring USA. Construction valuation is $900,000 and the project is at 80% completion.

 

O’Reilly’s Autoparts: located at 101 W. Pecan St. on the southwest corner of Pecan St. and National Parks Highway. The contractor is Zernco Inc. Permits have been issued and the project is 85% complete. Valuation is $899,000.

Allsup’s: located at 4412 National Parks Hwy. and Chapman Rd. The developers are CESO out of Akron, OH. Contractor is Black Canyon Construction. Permits have been issued and the project is 60% complete. Valuation is $2,500,000.

 

Planet Fitness: located in front of Lowe’s. The owner is AVE Carlsbad, LLC. The contractor is Aventine Development Group out of Allen, TX. The building will be approximately 14,396 SF. The building permit is ready to issue.

Lakeview Christian Home: located at 1905 W. Pierce St. This project is additional assisted living facilities to be named the Puckett Place Addition after Dr. Owen Puckett. National Construction, Inc. is the general contractor. Project valuation is $3,879,388.00. This project is 80% complete.

Alejandro Ruiz Senior Center: located at 121 Kircher St. in the former Pate School building. Phase 1 of the renovation effort is complete.
