Congratulations to United 20, a team of four Carlsbad residents and two Artesia residents who won a national soccer “3 v 3 Live Championship Tour” this past weekend in Palm Beach Florida. The Eddy County residents went undefeated to win the tournament. They’d previously placed in the state tournament to earn the chance to move on. Carlsbad players are Alexandro Cortez, Ayden Barnes, Angel Baeza and Daesen Urquidez. Artesia’s players are Moises Corza and Othoniel Alvidrez. The team is coached by Trey Urquidez. The future sure looks bright for Carlsbad’s soccer program. Thank you to the parents and sponsors who all made this trip possible.
A reminder that the Memorial Service for Judge and Professor David Redford is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Blodgett Street Baptist Church with Pastor David Prell officiating. Judge Redford passed away earlier this fall, and family and friends worked hard to organize a service to memorialize this very well loved and respected member of our community.

We would like to wish the very best to Gay West, who is retiring from Eddy County, where she’d served as Executive Administrative Assistant. Gay is an extremely knowledgeable and capable individual who was always easy to work with. Gay began her career with Eddy County in 2003 and became Executive Administrative Assistant in 2006.
Sincerely, Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
