Update 7-29-21

The United Way of Eddy County has announced that it is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer.  The bad news is that means the current Executive Director, Linda Dodd, has moved on to a position outside of that organization.

We would like to thank Linda for all her hard work and dedication with this important organization over the past few years. The United Way really stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic by providing a wider number of relief programs to assist individuals and families who are in need. The United Way helped make sure some of our most vulnerable citizens did not fall through the cracks.

In March of 2020, the United Way of Eddy County launched a COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, which supported critical nonprofits in the area and provided direct services to local families. Funds went to provide food and utilities for citizens in need. When one of our local grocery stores was forced to close, the organization helped coordinate a new program providing basic supplies such as diapers. The United Way added its own food distribution while also working with other distribution efforts. The organization made a difference in the lives of so many of our residents.

Even before COVID-19, the organization has been one of Eddy County’s best team players. Community events such as Stuff the Bus and Day of Caring bring out the best in everyone. Linda also worked with us on other community projects, such as our annual “Spirit of Carlsbad” awards.

Linda has also done an excellent job fundraising over the past few years. Under her watch, the United Way added a number of special events and continued to work closely with Mosaic, NWP, Intrepid, our oil and gas companies and many others with their generous campaigns.

The good news is that Linda says she’s going to be working with another local nonprofit – so we’re excited to know that she’ll still be bringing her strengths to making our community a better place. We look forward to working with her in her new efforts.  Additionally, the United Way of Eddy County remains a wonderful organization that is dedicated to making sure that local donations stay local. The organization has a very bright future ahead of it.

Replacing Linda is going to be a challenge, but we know this community has a large number of outstanding men and women who are committed to making a difference. If you know the right person out there, please visit www.uweddyco.org/careers.

Sincerely,

Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway
