Current Status of Project: Ten grouting wells have been completed. Drilling operations are being carried out hereafter using a single drill rig as the second rig is now used as part of grouting operations.
Grout injection began as scheduled on December 9th. The injection of high-mobility grout has been completed at one well along the western margin of the main cavern and has been initiated at a second well situated to the southeast of the old brine production well. As we continue to learn about the cavern, we are moving forward with a process to introduce sand rather than grout to remain cost-effective while continuing to restore stability.
There have been no safety incidents.
Next Steps: Continue installation of grout injection wells and the grouting process. Operations at the site will be on a planned suspension from December 22nd through January 4th so that the crews are able to spend the holidays with their families.
